Have you been missing your friends from Sibshop? Need a break?  Zoom Sibshop to the rescue!

We’re inviting WisconSib kids ages 8-12 who have a sibling with disabilities to this unique Sibshop using the video conferencing app called Zoom.

What do you do?

  1. Register for the Zoom Sibshop – Click the Sibshop picture below.
  2. On Saturday, March 28 at 2 pm, find a quiet spot (well, as quiet as you can manage), bring a laptop or cell phone, and some paper and a marker.  Click on the link that was emailed to you. And ZOOM – you’re at the Sibshop! (Its fine to ask a parent to help you get started, then politely ask them for some privacy.)

We’ll share what everyone has been doing during this “safer at home” time, share some laughs, and maybe even a scavenger hunt! It will be an adventure!

Remember: Registration is required.  After you register, a link to the Sibshop will be emailed to you. To register, click on the link below.

Adult Sibling 3rd Thursdays Moves to Zoom @ Your home
Apr 16 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

This 3rd Thursday series of “Sibling Survival Sessions” connects siblings with vital information and other WisconSibs. Each session is held the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Registration in advance is required. REGISTER NOW

In January, attorney Kristine Williams, joined our conversation. February focused on government benefits and services provided by Aging and Disability Resource Centers. Nathan Ruffolo, Benefit specialist and a WisconSib engaged us in an informative conversation. Many questions were discussed. March was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Now we’re taking our conversations to the virtual platform, Zoom. In April, we’re very excited to welcome Emily Holl and Don Meyer, authors of The Sibling Survival Guide” to our April 16th session.

Come enjoy a robust conversation. Bring your questions, insights, or just a listening ear. And don’t forget to bring your favorite late afternoon beverage. Come relax. You’ll be among other Sibs. We get it.

Registration in advance is required. REGISTER NOW

Don Meyer, retired Director of the Sibling Support Project and co-editor of The Sibling Survival Guide.

Journey Forward in Fox Valley @ WisconSibs Office
Apr 25 @ 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

JF Call OutAre you a sibling whois concerned about the day your parents no longer can care for your sibling?  Or you’ve become responsible for your sibling and are unsure about the future and need some answers?

For adults who have a sibling with developmental disabilities or long-term illnesses, the journey together is lifelong. You may already be in a care giving role or expect to in the future. This program helps you clarify your role, get the planning tools to move forward, and connect with other siblings and local resources that will change your future.

Journey Forward has one main goal— to help you as an adult sibling move forward with peace of mind.

When you are finished with both workshop sessions, you will have a written document which describes your sibling’s desired future living arrangement, community role, and lifestyle preferences.  You will have a plan that includes practical directions and information for maintaining continuity in your sibling’s daily life and needed supports to achieve these outcomes.  Some call this peace of mind.

This is the first session of a two-session program.  Adult siblings are encouraged to invite parents, siblings (including any with disabilities), and other family members as their guests. The program includes all materials and lunch for adult siblings and their guests (spouse, other siblings, parents, and any other significant members of their family or team) for both sessions.

If you have questions about Journey Forward in general, contact us at the WisconSibs office.
